Survival 101: I'm Stranded in the Airport

5 Things You Need While Stranded in the Airport

I went to visit my boyfriend in New Jersey this weekend, he just moved there for work (insert sighs and sad face). Any who, we had a fun filled weekend from his Bloomberg Office summer picnic to Target shopping for things for his room. I was supposed to fly out yesterday evening when all the flights going to Cincinnati were cancelled (as well as other surrounding connections) due to weather. Today, I was scheduled to fly out at 1:30pm welp that obviously didn't happen so here I am "stranded in the Newark airport" writing a little 'survival guide' for getting through your time at the airport. This could come in handy since flying is so unpredictable these days and it seems that Magic flying dragons are harder to find than I thought. Enjoy!

1. Keep Calm

I know traveling can be super frustrating but it really does help when you try to brush all the little problems of travel off and try to relax. People will be rude ( much as I experienced today ) but let's try to keep in mind the old' mantra of 'You catch more bees with honey' and stay polite and nice. Although there are times when if that's not working you might just have to put your 'stinger' on and get down right sassy! However, I would try to save you sass for desperate times. In the end your kindness could get you further than the sass monster next to you bossing the gate agent around.

2. Food...Get in my Belly

I got to the airport with my stomach rumbling today. So I grabbed a sandwich and then...I got stuck waiting for the next flight 5 hours later...so no I am snacking on trail mix and a Fuze drink. Nom Nom Nom - Yes the food is overpriced and yes there comes a point if your travel struggles where you just don't give a damn anymore. This girl needs to eat - especially when I'm bored and cold in the airport. Which brings me to my next must have...

3. Don't Fly Naked

Okay, I know you're thinking..."Jess, well duh you can't go to the airport naked, are you some sort of animal." Well by Naked, I mean where something warm even if it's 100 degrees out or at least bring something to keep you warm. It's always cold in the airport and on the airplanes and there's nothing like being stuck inside a freezing metal bird in the sky and not being able to do anything about it. (Unless sky diving is an option - and you're up for the thrill) So today I'm lucky to have my boyfriend's sweatshirt and jeans on. If you have a neck pillow bring that too, I found a cool one that you could turn around and set your chin on in the store today - but I DO NOT need another pillow.

4. Entertainment

Whether it's trashy gossip magazines, a good book, computer or your phone...it's good to keep something with you that can make the time pass while you're waiting. Today, I have my handy dandy wing-woman...my laptop as well as some gossip magazines and of course the August 2013 Allure (this is a beauty focused blog isn't it? haha.) It just so happens that my magazines are quite British focused today - Kate Moss on the cover of Allure and of course cute little Prince George on the cover of People. Aw reminds me of how much fun I had on my study abroad trip to London!

5. Something to charge your Electronics

My phone battery seems to die so quickly lately (just because I have tons of apps running and social media up all the time woops haha.) So my Dad gave me this external charging thing for my phone for my trip that I can plug it in on the go and charge it! It's genius, I just carry it around in my purse - definitely getting myself one of these. If you don't have one, no worries, most airports have charging stations with plugs and USB connections. But please just bring something in your purse or guys..your carry on so that you can call someone if you need. Payphone...wait do they even exist anymore? Haha but really you don't see them very often and I can't remember anyones number anyways.

Oh! Looks like we might be boarding! Wish me luck!

Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation: Review

Happy Monday Everyone!

I know it's the usual dreaded day of the week but...
let's try to stay positive and be thankful we are alive and kickin'!

WHOO HOO! Let's kick Monday's ass!

Today's post is a review on Maybelline's new Fit Me Shine-Free stick foundation
 (I know it's a mouthful)

Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation in shade 130 Buff Beige

Coverage: Light to buildable Medium

What Maybelline Says:

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT

Get flawless, shine-free skin instantly and on-the-go for tailor-made mattifying coverage. The anti-shine core has ultra-lightweight powders built in to the stick foundation to instantly dissolve excess oil. Available in 12 oil-free shades.

FOR BEST RESULTS

Apply to your face and blend evenly with your fingertips.

Skin Type: For oily skin, it has a Anti-Shine Core that is supposed to help prevent excess oil throughout the day.

My Overall Thoughts:
Overall, I enjoyed this foundation. I think the coverage leans more towards light and sheer and it doesn't build easily as other foundation. It's great for summer because the anti-shine core help keep excess oil away through the day! I do think it actually worked too, usually by mid day my t-zone will be pretty oily and I noticed that my forehead and chin area had less than usual when I wore this. I don't think i'm too impressed with the wear of the actual foundation as far as coverage goes. I could see some of my blemishes peeking out mid day.
This foundation would be great for people who don't need a lot of coverage and just want to even out their skin tone. Also, obviously people who have oily skin or T-zones and want to use something to prevent excess shine.
The color matched me perfectly for summer and they have 12 shades total! I'm still not a huge fan of the stick foundation and applying it straight to my face from the tube. However, this is great for people on the go or those of you who don't like a lot of fuss when it comes to makeup. You grab it, put it on your face and blend it in with your fingers...fuss free!
I tried a couple different ways of blending and did find that fingers or a sponge were the best ways to applying it since it's not liquid it can be harder to spread around your face so the warmth of your fingers help during the blending process.

Have you tried this foundation, what did you think? Do you like stick foundation or other formulas better? Leave comments below, I love reading them!

Have a fabulous Monday lovelies!
Hope this review helped :)

hugs and oil free t-zones,

June 2013 Favorites!

Hi Loves!

Hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend and fourth of July - and for those of you not in America, I hope you just enjoyed your weekend! Today I want to share some of my favorites products from the month of June - which flew by way to fast by the way, anyone else think so too?

June Favorites

1. Supergoop CC Cream - Love this stuff! Glides on super smooth and adds just enough coverage for my liking for the day, plus suncreen and correcting benefits! You can read my review on it here. Great for summer because it's self adjusting (and actually works) since you're always changing color in the summer, no more buying and mixing foundations!

2. Loreal Nourishing Leave-In Spray - My new found wallet friendly alternative to my holy grail It's a 10 leave in spray. While I think I have to use a little more in my hair for it to detangle I think it works great! I think I'll save my expensive stuff for a couple times a week and stick to using this on the other days to save some money. Oh! I also can't even begin to tell you and describe how good this stuff smells - you're just going to have to sniff test it in store to find out what I'm talking about!

3. Johnson's Melt Away Stress Lotion - I spotted this precious purple bottle of wonder in the travel sized section in Target a few weeks ago and snatched it up! If you know me then you know Lavender and Chamomile are my absolute favorite relaxing combination, so this lotion was an answer to my lotion prays. (I don't really pray about lotion haha) It's nice and light and the name "Melt Away Stress" sounded appealing because I've been a bundle of crazy the past month - I wonder if it comes in gallons? I suggest you try it and rub your worries away!

4. MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study - I've been using this a lot lately under my shadows and just alone on my lid when I'm in a hurry. It's a quick way to brighten up the eyes without using multiple products. I've also recently been eye-balling Bobbi Browns cream shadows - has anyone tried them before?

5. Boots No. 7 Perfectly Bronzed Beads - I've been loving this to add a little color and glow o my face. I take a fluffy brush and apply it in the hallows of my cheeks (make the fishy face and apply it lightly starting from about half way up from the corner of your mouth) These beads are the perfect tones of browns and beiges so that you don't look orange.

6. SUGAR Shine Lip Treatment by Fresh - I love this stuff, if you've never tried the balm version of this stuff from Sephora you're missing out! It has a refreshing lemon flavor, which you may think - Why would I want my lips to taste like dishwashing soap? Somehow the lemon is wonderful and refreshing on the lip, and now Fresh has made their fantastic balm into this beautiful gloss! Very moisturizing and the wear is long too!

Well that's all for now!
Have you tried any of these products, what did you think of them?
